I went to the dentist today. I had to get some pretty major work done a tooth, but thankfully it didn’t need to be a root canal. I had been putting it off for years, knowing that eventually the day would come when I would have to face the drill and get it taken care of. Today was that day, and you know what? After the initial pain and discomfort, I was completely overjoyed! I sat in the chair while it sounded like there was a chainsaw blasting through my head, and I couldn’t have been happier.
I know, I was surprised too!
What it really comes down to is that I’ve been putting this off for waaaay too long. YEARS. The amount of mental space this has taken up is ridiculous. So as I sat there, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of gratitude flowing through me. I finally took care of it, and now I am free of it! It feels so good. Self-care at its finest.
What have you been putting off? How amazing would it feel to finally take care of it and free yourself of its demand?
“Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different action or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all.” -Norman Vincent Peale
