spirit of new york
I had the opportunity to spend a week in New York in March of 2015. I had spent a couple of days there a few years prior and was eager to return and experience the incredible energy of this marvellous place. I was surprised by the all-encompassing peacefulness I felt in one of the busiest energy centres of the Earth. It’s like all of humanity’s challenges, as well as potentials, exist side by side in New York as a macrocosm of the issues we all face. It is both extraordinarily humbling and inspiring.
A couple of weeks before I was meant to go I had the idea to try drawing this “Spirit” of New York while I was there. I had no idea how it would unfold, but was excited to give it a try. It wasn’t until I arrived in the city that I found the perfect place to undertake this experiment – the New York Public Library. It ended up being one of the most excitingly meditative experiences I’ve ever had, and opened up doorways into possibilities I never could have imagined.
In October 2017, I returned to New York and had an art show featuring this very drawing. Full circle!
May this be a gentle reminder to trust the intuitive nudges that come your way, for they are the essence of your greatest potential gently guiding you towards your highest path.
